Characteristics

Tree to 30 m high, buttressed. Leaves with 5 or mostly 7 leaflets, exstipulate; leaflets ovate, elliptic or lanceolate, rounded to acuminate, entire, to 10 cm long; base oblique or cuneate, scarcely decurrent; lateral veins less than 12 pairs, at 50°–70°' with midrib. Inflorescence a panicle. Male flowers: sepals 1–1.5 mm long, glabrous or puberulous; petals c. 4 mm long; stamens 6; ovary obsolete. Female flowers: sepals 1–1.5 mm long, glabrous or puberulous; petals c. 4 mm long; stamens 6, inserted on margin of disc; disc glabrous; ovary tomentose. Fruit ovoid, c. 2 cm long.
