Characteristics

Large tree. Branchlets c. 4 mm thick, long reMain ing densely ferrugineously woolly pubescent; pith with a number of small vascular strands, most of them arranged into a peripheral cylinder. Stipules subpersistent, inserted on the petiole up to 8 mm from its base, auricle-shaped to lingulate, up to 6 by 3½ mm, stiff, pilose. Leaves 1-2-jugate. Leaflets elliptic to obovate, 10-12 by 4.5-6 cm, chartaceous, reddish-brown when dry, glabrous above, sparsely pilose beneath; base equilateral, cuneate; margin entire; apex rather abruptly long and slender blunt-acuminate; nerves 11-12 pairs (angle 60-70°), curved, distinctly arching at c. 3 mm from the margin, slightly sunken above. Acumen of leaflets blunt to acute. Inflorescences (female unknown) terminal, narrowly paniculate, c. 15 cm long, densely woolly pubescent. Flowers (male) 8 mm long, glabrous outside. Calyx 2½-4 mm high, outside sometimes slightly pubescent towards the apex. Disk 3-6-lobed. subtruncate. Stamens 3, slightly adnate to the disk, glabrous. Disk cylindrical, solid, 3-lobed, 2 mm high, glabrous. Infructescences and fruits unknown.
