Shrub, up to 3 m high. Branches spiny. Leaves with blade ovate to subcordate-ovate, 5-30 x 5-20 mm, discolorous, sparsely hairy to glabrous; stipules triangular, pubescent. Flowers: inflorescence axillary, 1-or 2-flowered, subsessile to pedunculate; corolla 4-5 mm long, tube longer than limb, throat glabrous, greenish or yellowish; Sep.-Jan. Fruit subglobose, 5-7 mm long.

The leaf blade is oval but square at the base and narrowing to the tip. Leaves are 4 cm long by 2.5 cm wide. The flowers occur singly with a slender stalk 1.5 cm long. The flowers are bell shaped.
