Panicle 13 by 2 in., interrupted, of 4-5 distant, rather loose, axillary, peduncled panicles; branches more or less hairy; spikelets 1/4-1/3 in. long, elliptic, brown, male, female, or bisexual; utricle in the female spikelet oblong-ellipsoid, scarcely trigonous, much narrowed at the top, scarcely beaked, nearly nerveless, glabrous, scarcely split on one side (but in the bisexual spikelet more or less split); nut nearly 1/8 in. long, broad-oblong, suddenly narrowed into a short-cylindric neck.
