Characteristics

Trees. Leaves alternate, compound, 3-foliate, palmate, pedately pinnate or bipinnate. Inflorescence raceme-like, axillary or paniculately branched. Flowers actinomorphic, bisexual, solitary, pedunculate; floral bracts present at anthesis. Tepals valvate, reflexed at anthesis. Stamens 4; anthers 2-locular, basifixed, dehiscing by longitudinal slits. Hypogynous glands absent. Ovary sessile; ovules 2; pollen presenter not developed; stigmatic surface terminal. Fruit a 1-2-seeded, woody follicle. Seeds ±elliptic, winged at one end.
