Characteristics

Tree or shrub, 1.5-4.0 m high; unarmed; bark grey, smooth. Leaves 30-90 x 20-50 mm, opposite, petiolate, dark green, glossy above, base cuneate, apex acuminate, margins entire, recurved. Flowers in much-forked cymes, small, pedunculate. Calyx 5-lobed or-segmented, puberulous. Petals 5, white, imbricate. Stamens 5, inserted at base of corolla; alternating with petals. Ovary sessile; 1 or 2 ovules; style short. Flowering time all year. Fruit an elongated, longitudinally corrugated drupe, ± 8 x 4.5 mm, black.
