Characteristics

Has been cultivated in T 3, Amani, ‘much regenerating’, 3 Oct. 1928, Greenway 846!. Persistent stems with ± 14 ribs, scale-leaves with free part 2–2.5 mm. long, 0.5 mm. wide, somewhat reflexed. Deciduous branchlets 0.8–1.5 mm. diameter, with 15–16 inconspicuous ribs; free part of scale-leaves 0.6–0.8 mm. long, 0.1–0.2 mm. wide, sometimes indistinctly red-brown banded. ♂ inflorescence 1.5–1.7 mm. diameter, whorls many, flowers ± 13 per whorl, bracts indistinctly gradually darkening towards apex, free part 0.7 mm. long, 0.15 mm. wide, adpressed. Infructescence shortly or elongate-cylindrical, 15–20 mm. long, 10–15 mm. wide; cells ± 11 per whorl separated by gap of 0.3–0.5 mm.; apical 1.5–2 mm. of valves free, backs with 1 prominent longitudinal ridge asymmetrically situated towards basal side; samaras pale.

Similar to C. glauca . Teeth on new shoots erect. Branchlets drooping or spreading, to 21 cm long; articles usually waxy, not or only slightly greater in diam. at apex when dried; phyllichnia flat; teeth 12-16, occasionally slightly spreading, 0.3-1 mm long. Cones sessile or on peduncle to 10 mm long; cone body 10-20 mm long, 8-10 mm diam.
