Leaves elliptic or rhomboid-lanceolate, the inferior leaves of the main stem to c. 4.5 × 1.7 cm. with a distinct petiole up to 1.25 cm. long, the superior and branch leaves reducing (usually rapidly so) and more shortly petiolate.
Tepals 1.75–2 mm. long, oblong, glabrous, rounded above or usually more or less cucullate, hyaline or pale-stramineous, minutely denticulate, very shortly mucronate with the excurrent costa.
Seeds lenticular, c. 1 mm. in diam., black and moderately shiny, deeply sulcate-reticulate centrally with broadly convex areolae, and these longer and narrower towards the edge.
Bracts and bracteoles deltoid, rather obtuse, 1–1.5 mm. long, hyaline, very shortly mucronate with the excurrent stramineous midrib, glabrous, the apex minutely denticulate.
Annual (? sometimes biennial) herb, with one to several stems from the base, stems generally with rather few, long and slender branches; stem and branches striate, glabrous.
Ovary 2–4 (6) ovulate; stigmas 2–3, erect, more or less recurved, slightly longer than the very short style.
Filaments with the free apex distinctly shorter than the basal cup, no intermediate teeth present.
