Characteristics

Herb, annual, 1.3–3.5 cm high. Leaves tufted, mostly glabrous; sheath 1–1.5 mm long with membranous margins bearing 3–6 hairs on distal half of each margin; lamina incurved backwards to straight, terete, linear, 4–13 mm long. Cataphylls 2–5, acute or obtuse, 3.5–5 mm long. Scape terete, up to 5 cm long glabrous. Primary bracts subopposite, closely sheathing, glabrous; outer bract with a brown cartilaginous basal sheath 2.8–4.7 mm long, passing abruptly into a recurved lamina 0.7–1.7 mm long; inner bract sheath 2.5–4.6 mm long, lamina shorter than outer bract. Secondary bracts absent. Pseudanthia 4–5, bisexual. Stamen shortly adnate to gynophore; anther 0.8–0.9 mm long. Carpels (4–) 6–7 (–8); styles connate at the base; papillae simple, c. 0.07 mm long. Seeds c. 0.5 mm long.
