Characteristics

Plants erect, slender, to 400 mm; cauline leaves numerous, narrowly linear, acute, to 80 x 5 mm. Inflorescences corymbose, to c. 60 mm long; bracts acuminate, glabrous, 11-16 x 2-3 mm. Flowers 6-numerous, c. 20 x 8 mm, sepals pale purplish-green to pink, petals and lip white, rostellum maroon. Median sepal subcarnose, ovate-acute, adnate to the petals, c. 5-7 x 2-3 mm; lateral sepals erect, oblique, subacute to obtuse, c. 5-7 x 3-4 mm. Petals quadrate-spathulate, obtuse, c. 6-7 x 4-5 mm. Lip spathulate, c. 4-5 x 5 mm; limb short and narrow, 2 x 2 mm; blade semicircular, c. 5 mm across. Stigma lobes oval, pul-vinate, c. 1 mm across, at the base of the rostellar arms; rostellum arms c. 4 mm long.

Terrestrial herb, slender, geophyte, up to 0.4 m high; with furry roots. Leaves cauline and forming basal cluster, many, narrowly linear, up to 65 mm long. Inflorescence a dense terminal raceme. Flowers 6-many, sepals pale purplish green to pink, petals and lip white, rostellum maroon. Sepals subequal; median sepal adnate to petals, reflexed, 5 mm long; lateral sepals spreading. Petals unlobed, lanceolate-ovate, 6 mm long. Lip 5 mm long, cordate; rostellum arms 4 mm long. Flowering time Nov.-Jan., after fire.
Like C. atrata but flowers many in a corymbose raceme, sepals pale purplish green to pink, petals and lip white, lateral sepals ± 5-7 mm long, lip spathulate, appendage absent, rostellum arms ± 4 mm long.
