Characteristics

Leaves narrowly linear, terete, to 70 cm long, the margins evident against midrib as 2 fine grooves, very finely scarious; leaves tightly imbricate at base with lacerated scarious margins. Inflorescence an open panicle to 60 cm long; bracts c. 1 mm long, acute; pedicels 3-15 mm long; flowers cream, scented. Sepals and petals 2-3 mm long. Capsule 4-6 mm long; often only 1 carpel fertile; perianth persistent. Seed c. 3 mm diam.
