Characteristics

Robust, succulent subshrub, old plants short-stemmed, stems chestnut-brown, stout, 200 mm tall, 450 mm diam., not deciduous. Leaf-pairs gaping but parallel, dark green, shiny when turgid, grossly and densely warty, with hard white bosses, shortly keeled, well-toothed, teeth sometimes toothy. Flowers solitary, midsized, petals yellow. Fruit 10-locular, globose below, ruby red above when young.
