Characteristics

Annual herb, 0.25-1.80 m, upright or spreading, much branched, green-striped, with grey-mealy hairs on young parts. Leaves variable, ovate-elliptic, 10-33 x 8-20 mm, margins entire or with 1 pair of lobes on either side of base. Inflorescences long, tapering, with many, axillary, divaricately branched cymes, containing many clusters. Flowers minute. Perianth segments 5, margins broadly chartaceous, not keeled. Flowering time July-Mar. Seeds black, shining.
