Slender grass-like plants up to 25 cm.. Rhizome short; roots rather thin with tubers along the main axes.. Leaves drying yellowish brown, rosulate, linear, without a distinct petiole, 12–25 cm. long, up to 0.5 cm. wide, apex acute, glabrous except for cilia along the margin, particularly in the apical parts.. Peduncle slender, ± 5 cm. long, glabrous.. Inflorescence a lax raceme, 3–10 cm. long, simple or slightly branched at the base, with glabrous rhachis; floral bracts obovoid, 3–10 mm. long, acute, toothed apically.. Pedicels articulated in lower half, 7–8 mm. long in fruit, glabrous, 1–2-nate at the lower nodes.. Perianth white; tepals 4–5 mm. long, 1.5–2 mm. wide, 3-veined.. Filaments fusiform and papillate, 3–3.5 mm. long; anthers ± 1.5 mm. long.. Capsule trigonous, 6–9 mm. long, 7–9 mm. wide, widest near the apex, attenuate and slightly stipitate, at base.. Seeds few per locule, saucer-shaped, up to 3 mm. in diameter.
