Young leaves broadly ovate, 4 mm. long, 5 mm. wide, later ± round, 1.5–2.8(–6.5) cm. long, 1.7–5.5(–8) cm. wide, ± rounded at the apex, truncate to cordate at the base, serrate, densely pale ferruginous velvety pubescent; petiole 0.1–1.4(–2.5) cm. long; stipules purple-brown, ovate–oblong, 2 mm. long, 1.5 mm. wide, auriculate at base, pubescent..
