Climbing shrub; stems ± obtusely square, glabrous or with brown hairs near internodes, with 4 crisped poorly developed wings on previous season’s growth and presumably much larger ones on old stems; tendrils present.. Leaves simple, ovate-oblong, 4–9.5 cm. long, 2.5–7 cm. wide, abruptly acuminate at the apex, truncate to widely cordate at the base, dentate with ± spaced very slender teeth, 3-nerved from the base, glabrous except at base near top of petiole; petiole 1.5–5 cm. long, with few ferruginous hairs towards apex; stipules ovate, 5 mm. long.. Inflorescence terminal and leaf-opposed opposite upper axils, ± 6 cm. wide, the ultimate elements umbel-like, ± 20-flowered; peduncles ± 3.5 cm. long; pedicels 2–6 mm. long, all axes ferruginous pubescent..
