Characteristics

Sericeous shrubs with small or medium-sized mostly fascicled leaves. Flowers dioecious, pentamerous, rarely and abnormally tetramerous. Sepals a little unequal in the ♂ flowers, subequal in ♀ flowers, all equally accrescent in fruit. Corolla funnel-shaped, longer than the sepals in ♂ flowers and about the same length in the ♀ flowers; limb deeply 5-fid. Styles 2, connate at the extreme base; stigmas U-shaped or irregular, lobulate. Ovary 2-locular, each loculus 2-ovuled. Capsule 2-seeded.
