Clematis grandiflora Dc.

A tall woody climbing plant, up to 13 m. or more in length; younger stems with scattered hairs, becoming glabrous with age, ribbed and furrowed.. Leaves pinnate with usually 5 leaflets often unequal in size and reduced when associated with the inflorescences; leaflets ovate to oblong-ovate, acute to shortly acuminate, more or less cordate at base, generally not lobed, crenate-dentate but not strongly, pubescent to glabrous.. Inflorescences with 1–3 flowers; pedicels 3–4 cm. long; flower buds ovoid to conical-ovoid.. Flowers campanulate.. Sepals with sharply recurved tips, about 3.5 cm. long, greenish yellow.

A tropical plant. It grows on the edges of forests and up to 1,200 m above sea level.

CAUTION: Most Clematis contain an irritant poison.

Can be grown by cuttings.
