Characteristics

Frutex ad 3 m altus (e Phillips). Rami robusti, cortice ferrugineo-fusco-piloso, internodiis 1-2 cm longis; ramuli abbreviati 1-1.5 cm longi dense foliati vaginis foliorum inclusi. Folia simplicia; vagina 3-5 mm longa amplectens extus 3-costata ferrugineo-fusco-pilosa, stipulis 3.5-5 mm longis acuminatis; lamina 2-3.5 cm longa 4-7 mm lata subcoriacea basin versus sensim angustata utroque latere 1-2-dentata, dentibus acutis, utrinque viridis supra nitidula subtus opaca. Flores [male] sessiles; bracteolae 9-10 mm longa amplectentes carinatae scariosae glabrae; sepala 3 c. 12 mm longa 6-7 mm lata ovata acuta subcoriacea fulva glabra; stamina c. 50, antheris luteis 1-1.2 mm, filamentis 12-15 mm longis. Flores [female] sessiles; bracteolae 15-18 mm longae cochleariformes cuspidatae scariosae glabrae; receptaculum c. 10 mm longum 6-7 mm crassum ovoideum leviter sulcatum dense canescenti-pilosum; sepala persistentia c. 6 mm longa 2.5 mm lata acuta erecta subcoriacea obscure nervosa glabra; stigma ignotum; achenium 7-8 mm longum ovoideum.
