Characteristics

Frutex 1-2 m altus (rare-ad 10 m ex O. Kuntze.). Rami dense cano-ferrugineo-pilosi, internodiis 3-6 mm longis; ramuli abbreviati 1-2 mm longi. Folia 3-foliolata; vagina 0.5-0.8 mm longa extus ± dense pilosa, stipulis 0.2-0.4 longis ciliatis; foliola inter se similia 3-6 mm longa 0.5-1(-1.5) mm lata lineari-lanceolata-lanceolata supra viridia subtus viridi-glaucescentia integerrima vel apice obtuse tridentata glabra, margine piano vel subrevoluto. Flores [male] sessiles; bracteolae 1 mm longae amplectentes pilosae; sepala 4 c. 2 mm longa libera vel ad 1/3 cohaerentia acuta glabra; stamina 4(-5-6), antheris 0.6 mm longis violaceis, filamentis c. 3 mm longis. Flores [female] sessiles, bracteolis ut in [male]; receptaculum 1.5-2 mm longum ovoideum-oblongum plerumque leviter 8-costatum glabrum nitidulum cinnamomeum; achenium 1-1.2 mm longum oblongum; sepala 4 c. 0.5 mm longa lineari-lanceolata erecta acuta; stigma e receptaculo c. 1 mm prominens ramosissimum.

Leaves trifoliolate; leaflets flat, 3-6 x 5.0-1.5 mm, narrowly elliptic to obovate, margins subrevolute, apex rounded to obtuse, sometimes obtusely tridentate. Male flowers: sepals 4, partly coherent; stamens 4-6. Female flowers: receptacle up to 2 mm long, slightly ribbed. Flowering time Nov.-May. Fruit: achenes, clearly ribbed.
