Tree to 6 m tall, mostly epiphytic, twigs mostly drying blackish, sometimes grayish in maturity; sap sparse, sticky, clear, except in the fruit. Leaves narrowly elliptical or obovate, pointed at each end, blunter apically, the costa evanescent distally above, lateral veins strongly ascending, distinct and evident or not, mostly not drying revolute, often drying pinkish; petioles short, to ca. 1.5 cm. Inflores-cences cymose, mostly reduced to 1-2 flowers, the peduncles and pedicels short, bracts wanting, bracteoles scale-like. Flowers (Maguire) with the buds 5-6 mm across; sepals perhaps 4, decussate; stamens numerous, free, the filaments thick, ca. 1 mm long, the connective thick, the anthers laterally dehiscent, ca. 2 mm long. Fruit elongate, oblong or ellipsoidal, 4-5 cm long, the 8 styles sometimes gradually forming a beak, or the stigmas nearly sessile, 1-2 mm long, forming a cushion ca. 5 mm across; seeds (Maguire) many, ca. 4 mm long.
