Perennial dwarf shrub, up to 0.8 m high; stems rigid, erect; copiously virgately branched in upper 1/2, terete, glabrous. Leaves shortly petioled, firmly papery, imbricate, obovate, truncate or retuse, base gradually cuneate, margins flat, glabrous, pellucid-punctate and warted. Male flowers solitary or in pairs; pedicels short; sepals suborbicular, fleshy, 2-4-lobed basal scale; petals obovate, gradually narrowed towards base; rudimentary ovary ovoid, glabrous.
