Leaf-lamina 5–14 × 6·5–18 cm., broadly ovate in outline, cordate, glabrous or almost so, punctate, deeply palmately 3–5-lobed, the lobes broadly ovate or triangular to elliptic, oblanceolate or oblong-oblanceolate, entire or sinuate-dentate especially towards the apex, acute to obtuse, apiculate, the central largest.
Female flowers solitary, axillary; pedicels 29–32 mm. long; ovary 20–25 × 1·5–2 mm., cylindrical, glabrous; receptacle-tube c. 3 mm. long, campanulate, lobes 3·5 mm. long, lanceolate, acute.
Fruit 4·5–5·5 × 1·2–1·5 cm., cylindrical, terete, obtuse, tapered towards the base, vermilion; fruit-stalk 3·5–4 cm. long.
Stems slender, scandent, glabrous, becoming white-punctate when older.
Seeds c. 5 × 3·5 × 1·4 mm., ovate in outline, compressed, lenticular.
Petioles 0·6–4 cm. long, setulose on upper margins or glabrous.
Probracts 3–5 mm. long, narrow, oblanceolate-spathulate.
Tendrils simple.
