Branches many, very short, very close, each bearing a tuft of erect, us. stiff lvs. Lvs yellowish, narrow-linear, sheath short, blade 10-20 mm. long (reaching 30 mm. In cultivation) tapering gradually into acicular tip that is much longer than width of adjacent part of If. Peduncles barely = lvs, fls sts projecting above. Sepals 5, 4-8 mm. long, broad below with membr. margin, often infolded above, tapering gradually to long acicular tip; capsule 5-valved, much < calyx when mature.
