Characteristics

Dioicous, green, small, creeping on leaves and stems of other bryophytes. Stem up to 2 mm long, prostrate, irregularly and sparsely branched, rhizoids occur up to the apex. Leaves approximate-imbricate, dorsal lobe subquadrate, almost flat, appressed to the ventral lobe, 1/2 as long as this one, irregularly dentate, apical tooth acute. Ventral lobe ovate with apex acute and frequently incurved. Cells about 10 µ, all cells except a few of the basal portion of the margin with a papilla, walls otherwise thin, trigones lacking. Male bracts scattered among the common leaves, of the same size and about the same shape as these ones, monandrous, antheridia yellow, globose. Female organ not observed.
