Inflorescences usually terminal, cymose paniculate. Bracts small; bracteoles present. Flowers bisexual. Sepals 5, free. Petals 5, glandular at base. Stamens many, free or in 5 bundles, borne on short androgynophore. Ovary 3-5-loculed; ovules 2-4 per locule; stigma thin, lobed or entire. Fruit a capsule, subglobose, 3-5-winged, septicidally dehiscent.
