Characteristics

Scandent evergreen shrub; branches at first fuscous pubescent, becoming glabrescent.. Leaves opposite; lamina coriaceous, oblong to oblong-elliptic, up to 14 cm. long, 5.5 cm. wide, apex slightly and rather bluntly acuminate, base obtuse to rounded, glabrous or nearly so except for tufts of hairs in the axils of the nerves beneath and rather inconspicuously lepidote; lateral nerves 5–6 pairs, rather broadly spaced; petiole up to 9 mm. long, rather stout.. Inflorescence of short crowded axillary or terminal spikes sometimes branched by suppression of the upper leaves, ± 1 cm. long on peduncles ± 6 mm. long; rhachis fuscous pubescent.. Flowers cream.. Lower receptacle tomentose; upper receptacle elongate-campanulate, 3 mm. long, 2 mm. in diameter.. Sepals deltate.. Petals spathulate, 2–2.2 mm. long, 0.9 mm. wide, glabrous.. Stamen-filaments 4.5–5 mm. long, 1-seriate, at or very near the margin of the disk; anthers 0.9 mm. long.. Disk-margin pilose, not free.. Fruit unknown.. Cotyledons unknown..
