Leaves opposite; lamina up to 14 x 5·5 cm., coriaceous, oblong to oblong-elliptic, glabrous or nearly so except for tufts of hairs in the axils of the lateral nerves beneath and rather inconspicuously lepidote, apex slightly and rather bluntly acuminate, base obtuse to rounded; lateral nerves 5–6(8) pairs, rather broadly spaced; petiole up to 9 mm. long, rather stout.
Fruit 4-winged, 2·8(3·5) x 2·5 cm., obovate to obovate-elliptic or subcircular, glutinous (especially when young), pilose to sparsely pilose, apex emarginate, apical peg absent or very short, wings up to 11 mm. broad, stipe up to 16 mm. long, slender, pilose.
Inflorescences of short crowded axillary or terminal spikes sometimes branched by suppression of the upper leaves, c. 1 cm. long on peduncles c. 6 mm. long; rhachis fuscous-pubescent; bracts caducous.
Stamen-filaments up to 7·5 mm. long, 1-seriately inserted at or very slightly above the margin of the disk; anthers 0·9 mm. long.
Scandent evergreen shrub or liane climbing up to 30 m.; branchlets at first fuscous-pubescent, becoming glabrous.
Lower receptacle 1·5–2 mm. long, tomentose; upper receptacle 3 x 2 mm., elongate-campanulate.
Scales 40–60µ. in diam., some with up to 16 primary walls.
Disk 2 mm. in diam., with pilose not free margin.
Petals 2–3 x 0·9 mm., spathulate, glabrous.
Sepals 1 x 1·2 mm., deltate.
Cotyledons unknown.
Flowers cream.
