Inflorescence of short rather crowded axillary spikes, appearing branched due to the suppression of the upper leaves, ± 2.5 cm. long on peduncles ± 1 cm. long; rhachis densely fuscous pubescent.. Flowers (fig. 3/18, p. 14) cream.. Lower receptacle densely tomentose; upper receptacle tubular-campanulate, 4 mm. long, 2 mm. in diameter, pubescent.. Sepals deltate.. Petals 1–2 mm. long, 1 mm. wide, glabrous.. Stamen-filaments 6 mm. long, almost 1-seriate, at or very near the margin of the disk; anthers 0.9 mm. long.. Disk-margin pilose, not free.. Fruit (described from Nigerian material), fig. 5/18, p. 16, subcircular in outline, 2–2.5 cm. long, glabrous, glutinous, apex emarginate; apical peg absent; stipe 1–1.5 cm. long, pubescent.. Cotyledons not known.. Scales (fig. 2/18, p. 13) 35–50 μ in diameter, with (7–)8 primary radial walls.
