Characteristics

Leaves opposite; lamina up to 5·5 x 2 cm., oblong-elliptic, rather densely lepidote above and below but scales usually not contiguous, not appearing impressed but leaving depressions, apex acute or shortly acuminate, base rounded to obtuse; lateral nerves 6–8 pairs; petiole up to 6 mm. long.

Lower receptacle 1–1·4 x 0·8 mm., lepidote otherwise glabrous or nearly so; upper receptacle consisting of a very narrowly infundibuliform to tubular part at the base, 2–3 x 0·6–0·9 mm., expanding at the apex to a cupuliform part 1·5–2 x 1·5–2 mm., lepidote otherwise glabrous.
Inflorescences of rather congested axillary spikes up to 3 cm. long; rhachis golden-lepidote; bracts c. 1·5 mm. long, filiform, caducous.
Scandent shrub; branchlets densely lepidote otherwise almost glabrous.
Stamen-filaments 4·5–5 mm. long; anthers 0·5 mm. long.
Petals 2 x 0·8 mm., narrowly obovate, glabrous.
Sepals 0·9 x 0·9 mm., deltate.
Scales as for the section.
Flowers creamy-white.
Disk inconspicuous.
Style 8–9 mm. long.
