A spiny shrub or small tree, pubescent, hispidulous or hispid throughout; main stems cylindrical; outer bark peeling in grey horizontal strips, under-bark dark green; hairs on young twigs dense, erect, 0.1–0.2 mm. long; exudate scanty, creamy, faintly scented.. Leaves on short-shoots 1-foliolate, those on long-shoots mostly hetero–3-foliolate, rather densely pubescent with erect hairs 0.2–0.3 mm.long; petiole 0–5 mm. long; lamina cuneate-elliptic, obovate or spathulate; rounded at the apex, up to 30 mm. long and 13 mm. wide with, on each side, 4–7 teeth and 2–3 main lateral veins which form an angle of ± 45° with the midrib.. Male flowers with pedicels ± 1 mm. long; calyx ± 1.5 mm. long including triangular 0.5 mm. lobes, hispidulous with hairs 0.1–0.2 mm. long.. Immature corolla glabrous, greenish yellow, 2.3 mm. long.. Fruit on a 1 mm. long pedicel, densely covered with erect bristly hairs 1.5–3 mm. long, at first white or grey becoming yellowish with age; style glabrous, 1.5 mm. long; excluding the bristles the fruit is ± 3 × 2.5 × (0.5 + 2) mm. in size; pericarp 2-valved..
