Characteristics

Very closely related to C. baluensis and C. holtziana which, if a very broad view of the species were taken, might be treated as subspecies. It differs from them chiefly in the indumentum which may be sparse or copious but is not stiffly erect and in the much gentler (less sharp) and often fewer crenations of the leaflet margins.

A small tree. It grows 8 m tall. The bark is white to yellow and smooth and peels in papery flakes. The leaves have 3 leaflets. They are 1-7 cm long by 0.3-6 cm wide. The fruit is oval and 8-16 mm long by 8-13 mm wide.
