Spiny glabrous shrub or small tree 0.5–3 m. tall with intricate grey branches and a slightly scented exudate, the ultimate branches rather slender.. Leaves coriaceous, hetero-3-foliolate; petiole 2–5 mm. long, always much shorter than the terminal leaflet which is elliptic-obovate, attenuate basally, rounded or broadly pointed apically, 15–30 mm. long, 9–21 mm. wide, with 5–7 well-marked crenate serrations on each side or almost entire; lateral leaflets much smaller than the terminal, elliptic, entire or with a few broad teeth, 3–9 mm. long, 2–5 mm. wide.. Flowers unknown.. Fruit subsessile, asymmetrically globose, ellipsoid or obovoid, 9–12 × 7.5–10 × (3–4 + 4–6) mm.; pericarp 2-valved; pseudaril almost covering the whole stone or covering the basal 2/3 and divided into 4 broad very irregular triangular lobes on the distal third; stone black, very rugose, 7–10 × 5–9 × (3–3.5 + 3.5–5) mm.; apical pits distinct but minute, sterile locule rounded, resembling the fertile locule but smaller.
