Characteristics

Resembles C. erosa but with shorter stems, the fluted, pale grey leaf-shoots up to 5 mm. in diameter, the leaves thicker and not always entirely glabrous, the petiole up to 8 cm., terminal leaflet up to 7 cm. long and 5 cm. wide.. Inflorescence often puberulous, with male peduncles up to 4 cm. long; bracts up to 3 mm. long; fruit-stalk up to 25 mm. long, occasionally with more than one fruit on a common peduncle.. Calyx pubescent, up to 3 mm. long, the narrowly triangular lobes twice as long as the tube.. Fruit subglobose, ± 10 mm. in diameter, the stone with a curiously pitted surface, its walls unusually (up to 1 mm.) thick.. Fig. 8/6,7, p. 52.
