Characteristics

Intricately branched shrub to c. 75 cm tall, spreading to 1 m. Leaves basal, obovate-oblong, present only on young plants. Inflorescence paniculate; secondary branching dichotomous, terminating in a head of 2-10 flowers; bracteoles orbicular, 1.8-2.8 mm long, 2.5-3.8 mm wide, pale green. Perianth blue, glabrous; tube 1.5-4 mm long; upper lip ovate, 3.5-5 mm long, 1-1.7 mm wide, with a recurved, acute apex; lower lip united for 1.3-2.5 mm; lobes narrowly oblong, 1.5-2 mm long, 0.5-0.7 mm wide, apex acute, recurved. Nut c. 2 mm long, c. 1.8 mm wide, orange-velutinous; circumference hairs c. 1 mm long, orange.
