Multistemmed shrub to 1.5 m tall. Leaves terete, 4-4.3 cm long, 0.8-2.5 mm wide, ascending, acute to acuminate. Inflorescence a much-branched panicle in the upper leaves; peduncle 10-35 cm long; bracteoles ovate, 3-5.5 mm long, 2-4 mm wide, brown, ciliate, cuspidate. Perianth creamy white; tube 7-11 mm long; lobes linear, 9-17 mm long, 0.8-1.5 mm wide, obtuse. Nut 2.5-4 mm long, 1.5-3 mm wide; cream-to rusty brown-velutinous; circumference hairs 0.5-5 mm long, orange to yellowish brown; central tuft absent.
