Tree to 20 m. tall, glabrous except the very youngest stems and unfolding leaves; petioles slender, 1-3 cm. long; leaf-blades firm, elliptic or obovate-oblong, up to 15 cm. long, a third to half as wide, apiculate or abruptly short-acuminate, entire, obtuse at the base, 5-pli-nerved; panicle 5-15 cm. long, few-flowered, the branches ascending; buds pyriform, apiculate, 10-13 mm. long; hypanthium at anthesis 3-4 mm. long; petals white, more or less unguiculate, 10-15 mm. long; style stout, 4-5 mm. long; stigma hemispheric, capitate, about 1.5 mm. in diameter.
