Leaf-blade triangular-oblong or oblong-ovate, rarely narrow, 3–8.5 cm. long, 2.3–6 cm. wide, acute at the apex, cordate or rarely subhastate at the base, pilose particularly on the veins below, becoming glabrescent or glabrous, rarely very hairy; petiole up to 3.5 cm. long.. Inflorescence hairy, capitate, densely bracteate; peduncle 2.5–11.5 cm. long.. Bracts ovate, ± hyaline, acute, up to 10 mm. long and 7.5 mm. wide.. Sepals ovate, acute, apiculate, ± scarious, 9–13 mm. long and 5–8(–10) mm. wide.. Corolla white, often with purple streaks or pink with dark centre (2.1–) 2.5–3 cm. long and 4 cm. broad at mouth, hairy on middle parts of the lobes.. Capsule about 7 mm. in diameter.. Seeds black..
