Characteristics

Spreading to ascending perennial herb becoming woody below, to 30 cm high; stems densely stellate-tomentose.. Leaves narrowly ovate, narrowly oblong or narrowly elliptic, 1–5.1 cm long, 0.5–1.3 cm wide, margins coarsely dentate to sinuate, rounded at the base, apically acute or rounded, stellate-pubescent and grey-green above, stellate-pubescent to stellate-tomentose and paler beneath; petioles 0.4–1 cm long, stellate-tomentose; stipules 1.5–3.5 mm long, pilose with a mixture of stellate and simple hairs.. Flowers in 1–2(–3)-flowered fascicles or cymes; peduncles 0.4–1.5 cm long, pedicels up to 1.3 cm long, both stellate-pubescent; bracts up to 1 mm long, pilose with a mixture of simple and stellate hairs.. Sepals 5, 7.5–8.4 mm long, 1–1.5 mm wide, dorsal surface covered with stellate hairs.. Petals 5, pale yellow, obovate, with ciliate claw at base, 7.3–8 mm long, 3–3.3 mm wide; stamens ∞, up to 6 mm long; ovary sausage-shaped, tomentose, 2–2.3 mm long, 1–1.3 mm wide.. Capsules solitary or in pairs, sausage-shaped, straight, 0.9–2 cm long, 0.4–0.5 cm wide, splitting into 3 valves, stellate-tomentose; seeds somewhat angular, ± 1.5 mm long, striate, black..
