Erect annual herb to 30 cm; stems glabrous to slightly pubescent.. Leaves ovate to elliptic, 2.7–4.5 cm long, 1.1–2.5 cm wide, margins crenate, without basal setae, unequally rounded at the base, apically subacute or rounded, scattered pubescence on midrib above and on midrib and veins beneath; petioles 0.3–0.7 cm long, pilose, more so on upper side; stipules 1.5–2.8 mm long, pilose.. Inflorescences of 1–2-flowered fascicles; peduncles and pedicels up to 1 mm, glabrous; bracts 0.5 mm, glabrous.. Sepals 5, 3.6–3.8 mm long, to 1 mm wide, sparsely pilose.. Petals 5, 2.6–2.8 mm long, 1–1.1 mm wide, obovate, with ciliate claw at base.. Stamens ± 10, 2.3 mm long.. Ovary cylindric, densely strigose, 1.5 mm long, 1 mm wide.. Capsule solitary or in 2s, squat, straight, 0.5–1.7 cm long, 0.3–0.4 cm wide, splitting into 5 valves, scabrid, ending in 5 spreading horns; seeds somewhat angular, ± 1 mm long, glossy, black..
