Characteristics

Leaf-lamina 1·3–3·8 × 0·2–1·5 cm., narrowly elliptic, narrowly oblong, or narrowly lanceolate, apex acute, margin crenate-dentate, base narrowly rounded to cuneate, sparsely setulose on the nerves; petiole 2–10 mm. long, pilose on the upper side; stipules c. 2 mm. long, setaceous, glabrous.

Annual herb up to 30 cm. tall; stems at first erect but later branches bending downwards and becoming semi-prostrate; branchlets very slender, very sparsely pubescent or glabrous, purplish-brown and with a raised line decurrent from the petioles.
Inflorescences of 1–3-flowered cymes subopposite the leaves; peduncles up to 1 mm. long, glabrous; pedicels up to 1·5 mm. long, glabrous; bracts c. 1 mm. long, setaceous.
Petals yellow, the same length as the sepals, linear-oblanceolate, minutely ciliolate at the base.
Ovary globose, slightly sulcate, 3-locular; loculi 2-ovulate; style c. 1·5 mm. long, glabrous.
Capsule c. 5 mm. in diam., broadly ovoid, apex very shortly and bluntly 3-homed.
Sepals 3 mm. long, linear, acute, slightly inrolled at the edges, glabrous.
Androgynophore almost obsolete, c. 0·1 mm. long; annulus present.
Seeds c. 1·5 mm. in diam., roughly hemispherical, blackish.
