Leaves narrowly linear, linear-ovate to narrowly ovate-elliptic, apex with a distinct crista up to 1 mm long; stipular sheaths in the midstem region mostly produced into 2-8 fringing, ± rigid, subulate fimbriae. Flowers: inflorescence with 2, rarely 3 or more flowers at a node, pedicellate or subsessile; stigma 1-lobed, lobe cylindrical or ovoid; corolla tube 3-7 mm long, hairy or papillate at throat inside; corolla lobes white, cream-coloured, yellowish, bluish, mauve, purple, pink or red above, back of lobes and tube paler or brownish to pinkish green or greenish white; Sep.-May.
