Characteristics

Leaf cordate to round, 12–25 × 10–14 mm, bluish green above, reddish or purplish beneath. Flower erect on a stalk c. 1 mm long, 9–13 × 5–7 mm, cherry-red to dark maroon. Dorsal sepal dark maroon, ovate-oblong when flattened, 15–23 × 6–10 mm, curved in a semi-circle, longer than labellum. Lateral sepals c. 1.6 mm long. Petals c. 1 mm long. Labellum maroon and white, mostly hidden by dorsal sepal but basal part protruding; labellum tube c. 3 mm long; margins sharply recurved with sparse, tiny, bristly hairs; labellum lamina obovate in front view, 5–7 × 5–7 mm. Spurs c. 1.3 mm long, curved close to ovary. Column c. 2.5 mm long.

From coastal lowlands to ranges and tablelands growing in a variety of habitats, including: coastal scrub in freely draining sand; among rocks and grass trees under sheoaks on exposed ridges and slopes in gravelly and stony loam; on moist, sheltered slopes and gullies in drier, open forests in gravelly loam; and occasionally in moist to wet forests in loam.
