Leaf cordate to round, 8–25 × 12–30 mm, green above, silvery green beneath. Flower erect, 7–12 × 9–11 mm, reddish purple with greenish or translucent areas, labellum reddish with darker veins, central area on labellum whitish or greenish. Dorsal sepal oblong, 6–11 × 3–4 mm, not extending over labellum. Lateral sepals c. 5 × 0.8 mm. Petals c. 2 × 0.8 mm. Labellum lamina nearly circular although sometimes not developing or expanding fully, 7–8 × 9–11 mm; basal tube 2–3 mm long, auricles usually hidden; boss small, inconspicuous, whitish or greenish; labellum margins spreading or incurved, entire or with a few small teeth. Auricles short, with a very tiny opening.
Disjunct in Vic. but abundant in S.A. and W.A., where it’s often locally common in large colonies. Found growing among moss on slopes and swales in coastal dunes under thickets of coastal teatree, black paperbark and shrubs in damp, calcareous sands; less common in coastal mallee vegetation in limey sand and red soil over limestone.
