Characteristics

Leaf cordate to round, 18–40 × 20–40 mm, dark green above, silvery green beneath. Flower erect or slightly recurved, 13–15 × 14–18 mm, bright reddish purple with greyish translucent areas. Dorsal sepal 20–23 × 11–13 mm, concave, curved forwards and hooding labellum. Lateral sepals c. 3 × 0.5 mm, whitish. Petals c. 2.5 × 0.3 mm, whitish. Labellum lamina almost circular, 10–14 × 14–18 mm, reddish purple with darker venation; basal tube 5–6 mm long, base of tube and auricles hidden by labellum; boss mounded, white, conspicuous, broadly notched; upper labellum margins flared, lower margins incurved with numerous coarse teeth.
