Characteristics

Leaves 7–9(11)-foliolate; petiole 1.5–3 cm long; rachis 7.5–11(16) cm long; petiolules 3–4 mm long; leaflets 9–17.5 × 2.5–5 cm, oblong to oblanceolate, acuminate with the narrow acumen up to 2.5 cm long, rounded to cuneate at the base, glabrous or pubescent beneath at least on the nerves, ± subcoriaceous; stipules 6 mm long, oblong, rounded at the apex, deciduous.

Inflorescences axillary and terminal, racemose, 5–6(12) cm long, usually much shorter than the subtending leaf; peduncle 3 cm long; bracts up to 1.2 cm long, linear-lanceolate, soon falling; pedicels 6–8 mm long; bracteoles 3–6 × 1 mm, elliptic-oblong or lanceolate, deciduous.
Standard white or pink with yellow base, 2.3 × 1.3 cm, or 2.5 cm in diameter, oblong or ± round, with claw 3 mm long; wing blades 23 × 5 mm, narrowly oblong, curved, with claw 5 mm long; blades of keel petals curved, 17 × 7 mm with auricle rounded and claw 8 mm long.
Seeds dark brown, 1.5–2.5 × 1.3–1.7 × 0.5 cm, semicircular, elliptic or subquadrate in outline.
Filament sheath 1.1–1.3 cm long; free parts of filaments 5–8 mm long; anthers 0.7 mm long.
Shrub or tree, 9–12(20) m tall; trunk 20–40 cm in diameter; bark finely fissured.
Pods purplish, 5–11 × 2–2.5 cm, obovoid, beaked, glossy and venose, 1–3-seeded.
