Characteristics

Leaves (1)1·5-3·7(5·0) cm. long, (with the petioles sometimes missing) and (0·7)1·2-1·8(2·0) cm. broad, elliptic to broadly elliptic or rhombic, shortly tapering below the middle into a very short petiole or petiolar flat base, slightly connate, glabrous except for a tuft of hyaline papillose hairs inserted on the middle of the margin of the sheath, dark green and brown-lineolate on drying, flat, spreading or reflexed.

Flowers 5-merous in dense to loose corymb-like cymes at the end of the stem and branches, with the main axis and secondary inflorescence-branches papillose-pilose along two opposite sides, the other branches papillose all around; pedicels filiform, papillose (papillae short, obtuse), those of dichotomies up to 15 mm. long, the others shorter, not or slightly dilatate upwards.
Sepals 2-3(3·5) x 0·5-0·75 mm., usually less than half as long as corolla or sometimes up to 2/3 as long, oblong or linear, nearly acute or obtuse and slightly thickened-subtrigonous at the apex, slightly connate at the base, glabrous, not or narrowly hyaline-margined.
Stem up to 35 cm. long, prostrate or ascending, rooting at the lower nodes, simple or loosely branched above, sometimes with very short axillary branchlets, 4-gonous, glabrous towards the base, papillose-hairy in two opposite rows upwards; nodes usually distant.
Corolla 4-5·5 mm. long, white; petals 1-1·25 mm. broad, oblong-lanceolate, acute, nearly free.
Follicles (with styles) 3-4 mm. long, usually contracted into the 1·25-1·5 mm. long styles.
Seeds c. 0·5 mm. long, oblong-ellipsoid, minutely spinulose-tuberculate.
Filaments 3-3·25 mm. long; anthers c. 0·6 mm. long, purple.
