Characteristics

Perennial shrublets c. 0.2 m high, much branched with short, decumbent glabrous branches, old leaves not deciduous. Leaves oblong-elliptic, 15-30 x 5-12 mm, rounded, dorsiventrally flattened and rarely slightly convex, with marginal cilia usually slightly recurved and in a dense row, green to yellowish green. Inflorescence a rounded thyrse, usually with many dichasia each with few to many flowers, with more or less distinct peduncle 0.15-0.25 m long. Calyx: lobes triangular, 2-2.5 mm long, with marginal cilia rarely absent, fleshy, green to yellow. Corolla tubular, fused at base for 0.8-1.2 mm, cream to pale yellow; lobes elliptic to almost panduriform, 3.5-4.5 mm, vaguely acuminate and each with indistinct dorsal appendage, stiffly erect first, later recurved or recoiled. Stamens with yellow anthers. Squamae oblong, 0.9-1.2 x 0.2-0.3 mm, truncate or slightly emarginate, slightly constricted downwards, fleshy, pale yellow.
