Species

Angiosperms > Saxifragales > Crassulaceae > Crassula

Characteristics

Perennials with basal rosettes, with woody stems rarely up to 0.2 m long, usually little branched, with old leaves remaining on branches until they decay. Leaves oblong-oblanceolate to broadly obovate, 30-60(-90) x 10-25(-35) mm, obtuse or rounded, dorsiventrally flattened but both surfaces more or less convex, densely covered with coarse recurved hairs and with marginal cilia not in a single row, grey-green to yellowish green. Inflorescence an elongate thyrse with many dense spherical dichasia (i.e. part-inflorescences produced by 3-6 nodes of central axis), with hairy peduncle 0.15-0.3(-0.45) m long. Calyx: lobes oblong-triangular, 2-3 mm long, obtuse, covered with spreading hairs and with more or less distinct marginal cilia, fleshy, grey-green. Corolla tubular to almost cylindrical, fused basally for 0.3-0.6 mm, cream to pale yellow; lobes panduriform, 3-4.5 mm long, with almost spherical dorsal appendage in terminal position and with membranous petal apex on inside. Stamens with yellow anthers. Squamae oblong-cuneate to almost square, 0.6-1 x 0.4-0.6 mm, truncate or slightly emarginate, fleshy, yellow.
More
Perennial, basal rosette, succulent, little branched, erect, woody, ± 0.2 m high, 0.350.65 m high when in flower, old leaves not deciduous. Leaves opposite, oblong-oblanceolate to broadly obovate, 30-60 x 10-25 mm, obtuse to rounded, dorsiventrally flattened, both sides convex, dense hairs, marginal cilia grey-green tinged red. Inflorescence an elongate, terminal thyrse with several globular dichasia from 3-6 nodes; flowers sessile; peduncle 0.15-0.30 m long, hairy. Calyx fleshy, grey-green, hairy and marginal cilia. Corolla tubular, fused 0.3-0.6 mm, cream-coloured to pale yellow; lobes panduriform, 3.0-4.5 mm long, terminal spherical dorsal appendage present, apex membranous on inside. Flowering time Oct., Nov.
Perennial, with basal rosette and few, rarely woody, short branches, 50-200 mm tall. Leaves oblong-lanceolate to broadly obovate, dorsiventrally flattened, but slightly convex above and below, 30-60 x 10-25 mm, coarsely and densely grey-adpressed-pubescent, marginal cilia in 2 or more rows. Flowers in many, dense, spherical heads in a branched inflorescence, on a pubescent peduncle 0.15-0.3 m long, tubular, petals 3-4.5 mm long, fused in lower 0.6 mm, with a fleshy, terminal appendage, cream to pale yellow.
Tufted perennial to 20 cm, stems woody, few-branched. Leaves opposite, oblanceolate to rounded, densely recurved-hairy, margins with a band of cilia. Flowers in globular clusters forming elongate panicles, tubular, cream-coloured to yellow, petals ± 4 mm long.
