Characteristics

Annuals with spreading wiry branches up to 50 mm high, usually much branched. Leaves oblanceolate to elliptic, 4-10(-15) x 2-5 mm, bluntly acute to obtuse, dorsiventrally flattened and slightly cymbiform, glabrous, fleshy, green. Inflorescence a thyrse with few dichasia. Calyx: lobes broadly triangular, c. 1.5 mm long, obtuse, glabrous, fleshy, green. Corolla tubular to funnel-shaped, fused basally for c. 1.5 mm, white often tinged pink; lobes oblong-elliptic, 3-4 mm long, acute or obtuse, erect or recurved at apices. Stamens with yellow anthers. Squamae oblong-oblanceolate, 0.8-1 x c. 0.2 mm, truncate to rounded, gradually and slightly constricted downwards, slightly fleshy, white. Styles slender with terminal stigma. Seeds 14-16, released through apical pore of follicle.
