Characteristics

Annuals up to 60 mm high with stiffly erect branches mainly from the base. Leaves linear to scarcely oblanceolate, 3-5 x c. 1 mm, obtuse, slightly flattened above and more or less convex below to almost club-shaped, glabrous, green to red. Inflorescence with terminal flower in the axil of leaves due to sympodial growth, with 4-merous flowers. Calyx: lobes broadly triangular, 0.3-0.4 mm long. Corolla scarcely fused at base, white with rose-coloured tinge; lobes obovate, 1.3-1.5 mm long, obtuse with apices spreading. Squamae oblong-cuneate, 0.5-0.7 x 0.4-0.5 mm, slightly emarginate, gradually constricted towards base, white tinged red above.
